More than 30 years ago, Meinrad Huber and Claudia Bauer founded the dance agency Ecotopia Dance Productions, dedicating themselves to contemporary dance and its worldwide visibility. Tours with some of the world's most interesting productions and ensembles have taken them from Afghanistan to Bangladesh, India, South Korea, Canada, America, Latin America, Russia, and almost all European countries. This journey has resulted in an immense wealth of experience from encounters with other cultures.

Since 1996, there has been a collaboration with dance director Helena Waldmann. Together, they have realized numerous productions that challenge the audience with timely topics.

In 2006, Ecotopia initiated the founding of Gauthier Dance at Theaterhaus Stuttgart and has since supported Eric Gauthier and the Dance Company.

In 2016, Ecotopia founded Ballet of Difference with choreographer Richard Siegal and dramaturge Tobias Staab. This freelance ballet company was established as a permanent ensemble at Schauspiel Köln starting from the 2019/20 season.

Worldwide touring for renowned companies such as Sao Paulo Dance Company, Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto, Vertigo Dance Company, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, and Nederlands Dans Theater, to name a few, is one of Ecotopia's responsibilities.

In addition, festival programming and organization are among their other tasks. These include the Colours International Dance Festival, Festspiele Ludwigshafen, Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg, Burghof Lörrach, and Danzàtlan International Dance Festival in Mexico City.

Ecotopia also produces dance productions for Helena Waldmann, Richard Siegal, Shahar Binyamini, and Sofia Nappi, in collaboration with national and international co-producers and foundations.

Emerging young choreographers are connected by Ecotopia to ballet companies around the world, allowing them to grow as choreographers, experience by experience.
